Field team

The practice of offering courses and training has been growing year by year. A LinkedIn study shows that, in 2021, the search rate for T&D (Training & Development) professionals had already grown by 94% compared to the previous year. And investments in this area continue to evolve, after all, companies have already realized that, with a better trained team, the chance of scoring a goal is much greater.

But what about the professionals who work in the field? Anyone who thinks they stay on the bench when it comes to specializing is wrong. They are more into the game than ever, as it is the field team that usually scores the goal, does publicity, makes sales, visits customers and closes deals.

Meet the field teams

The field team is the one that is in the area and doesn't back down, they are literally in front of the goal and always ready to make it happen.

We can consider as a field team professionals who work externally, meeting demands, resolving calls, making announcements, closing sales and providing services, among other functions.

Among the main field professionals, we can mention:

  • sales promoters, who work in points of sale such as supermarkets, pharmacies, stores and others;
  • external salespeople, who sell door-to-door or directly by visiting customers;
  • maintenance teams that carry out repairs and repairs in public places or at the customer's establishment;
  • research professionals who work with a direct approach to collect information.

These are some examples, but we can consider field staff to be all professionals who work outside the office. These professionals are essential for bringing external data to the company and can be used as a research source.

They are often the main (or even the only) point of contact with the customer. Therefore, it is essential that these players are always trained and qualified to resolve doubts, close deals and respond for the company.

Warm up professionals working in the field

Before offering training to your field team, you need to understand the profile of these professionals, which in most cases is different from the office professional, starting with working hours, among other aspects.

To draw up a T&D plan for these employees, there is nothing better than analyzing it through research and conversations with this target audience. From there you will have answers to questions such as:

  • What is the best training format for this audience?
  • What is your availability?
  • What topics are relevant to the field team?
  • What are your motivations and expectations?

Always remember to give feedback to these professionals. Make them feel part of the company's decisions and initiatives, not creating physical barriers and distinctions between internal and external employees. This way, you will have a more engaged and close team, capable of understanding the company's objectives and contributing more assertively through external information.

Start the game

Understanding the expectations and factors relevant to the audience that will take the training, the time has come to define in which format they will be offered. One corporate training plan will help you with planning.

With so much technology available through platforms and teaching systems, to ensure greater adherence to training, opt for platforms that allow virtual access, which the student can access whenever and however they want, facilitating the teaching process.

In addition to eliminating the physical barrier of travel (as field teams generally work in different locations), which can prevent attendance or cause delays in in-person courses, online training generates savings for the company, avoiding expenses with physical structure, teachers and printed material, among other factors.

To ensure effectiveness in distance training for field teams, it is necessary to pay attention to some points:

  • Make sure your team has equipment (cell phone, tablet or notebook) with good internet speed, so that classes are not interrupted;
  • Ensure monitoring of student progress through indicators;
  • Offer support to employees who have questions;
  • Count on a friendly and intuitive teaching platform, eliminating access and withdrawal problems.
